Many years
ago, in one of the first White Dwarfs I ever owned there was an advert for a
Squat Tarantula, a heavy weapon artillery platform. I never bought one but I
always remembered…
Twenty five
or so years later and I have the next best thing: The Mantic Hailstorm Cannon!
I wasn’t sure
about this model at first. I might not have bought it if it hadn’t come in the
Mantic Warpath boxed game starter set, but it has grown on me.
I don’t know
if Mantic intended this to be used as a Tarantula in games of 40K, but the
closest thing in the Squat codex I’m working from is definitely that.
With this
complete I’ve now finished the support element of my army.
Just six
Squat infantry to finish now and then I’m done!
(Grins
inanely)
Dude. Just.
ReplyDeleteWow. I have spent the last hour reading all your blogs and I am gob-smacked. I love how you use any range of models and the models are truly yours. This is a concept I am trying to move toward myself and free my hobby from Stockholm slavery!
I am out of superlatives.
This is a truly excellent resource and I hope you can answer a couple of questions:
1.How do you do your bases?
2.Your terrain table mat is that teddy bear fur?
3.How long does it take you to paint a unit? Looking at those heaving shelves you must be able to churn pretty quickly or just never sleep
4.Kids? ; P
Keep on painting!
Hey,
DeleteWow. Thanks for the great feedback. I hardly get any comments so it can sometimes feel like I’m blogging to an empty room.
In answer to your questions:
1) There’s a tutorial here on how I do my bases.
2) The war board is actually a huge piece of blanket material dyed black then painted. Here’s a tutorial that includes how to do it. Hey,

3) I am fairly quick at painting units I guess and a bit obsessive, though I can sometimes flounder about between projects not achieving much (like I’m doing at the moment. My other kryptonite is that I can only be interested in one game system at a time – hence my neglect of my Last Chance War blog at the moment.

Your lack of comments is nothing short of criminal ; P
Deletehey i was wondering where could i get information on playing squats?
ReplyDeleteHey,
DeleteSure thing. Just go onto Google and type Squat Codex. There are two or three fan-updated ones out there. Or you could use them as proxy models for Imperial Guard or Space Marines... or Tau maybe.
Or just make up your own rules!
I'd rather use it as a thudd gun. See google images for comparison ;)
